Do all people who suffer from MPD or DID have tramatic events triggering the splitting of the personality?
I am rereading the Primal Fear – Show of Evil – and Reign in Hell books by William Diehl and I am was wondering- do people who have multiple personalities always have traumatic events or are some cases of MPD or DID from people who have had happy and healthy lives?
A lot of people with MPD or DID have horrific backgrounds. There are quite a few books on MPD and DID. It can be very complex. Rarely do you have someone from a normal happy family background with these disorders.
There are various reasons that this comes about. A good example is given in the book Transformation of America by Cathy O’Brien. It’s a truly fascinating read about one of the major causes of these disorders. I would encourage everyone to read it.
