Tribute Unabridged

Will you help with some c/c on a brand new write?
I wanted to write something Noble;
a story with a moral,
an epic modern fable.
The tale took too many turns,
my purpose became garbled.
And yet a lesson, learned,
Disabled-
Still I hobble.
I grieve when i can’t weave or wax
A bit of art with words I carve.
Little wheels that set the scope,
Driven unabridged, collapse.
Again I swerve but if I can coax
A line or shot in blind eclipse,
To root the thought out of the box
Matching candles with unlit wicks…
I have read, in shadows ringed by rocks
Where embers of wooden words and wit
Roast on a spit of gutted facts,
Tumbled thoughts and unclear plot,
The premise once so eagerly sought-
And a Moral. Oh so thematic,
At most a tribute to the lack.
Epilogue to the fable I will never write
And in the end, I close the book.
build something better
or at least keep the cycle going
either way
it always gets old
or is that never
it never gets old
same old jokes
different strokes
for different folks
change the internal dialog
or at least keep the humor going
forgive yourself and know
that at times
laughter is the weeping of the mouth
as tears can be shed in relief and joy
nice write
