Too Many
How many hashfails while downloading a torrent is too much?
I’m currently downloading a 1.95 gigabyte file. It’s currently at 57.8% completion, with 1.87 megabytes wasted and 7 hashfails. Is the file corrupted, or should I continue downloading?
I’ve read on the internet that people have been getting over 1 gigabyte wasted, but I’m not sure how to detect too many hashfails and when to stop downloading.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
That is not very much (pretty normal) and hashfails do not affect the final download.
A hashfail occurs when the content is corrupted in transfer. The torrent file only allows your computer to accept content that is in accordance with its hash. This ensures that your final download will be uncorrupted.
So the hashfail has nothing to do with the original content of the file being OK or not. It is data that was rejected because it was not identical to the original content.
