A rare Tyrannosaurus rex skeleton, among the most complete specimens in the world, is to go under the hammer in Las Vegas in October.
The T-rex, which has the name ”Samson”, was believed to be 66 million years old and was found in the US state of South Dakota in 1992, auction house Bonhams & Butterfields said.
”We have approximately a 57 percent complete T-rex, which means the third most complete ever found,” said the auction house’s Thomas Lindgren.
He estimated the dinosaur skeleton would fetch about US$6-8 million (NZ$8.8-11.8 million).

Maybe if I had the estimated $8m to spend.
I hope it gets picked up by a major museum, finds like that shouldn’t be in private collections. I’ve never seen a semi complete T Rex. I did see a head in Vienna once in their Natural History museum. That was amazing.
I actually did bid on a dinosaur egg cast once online. It was an exact replica of a hadrosaur egg for about 70USD. I never got it but it would have been very nice. That experience taught me of the importance of casting these ancient remains and safe storing the originals.
