Pimsleur Simple

What is the ku-Arima in Japanese?
The Pimsleur is that I have heard these sets of words that seem to pair well (not that I know what the ku-is Arima) – desu nomitai and Arima nomitaku – desu tabetai and Arima tabetaku – Hoshii desu and Arima hoshiiku Is there no simpler version of the "do not want" negative while still being polite, that's very difficult to remember. However, in today's lesson (number 7) Pimsleur says that these two means "is good "and" not right "ii desu and Arima Yoku They do not seem to agree on anything in the first three examples.
