CSI: New York – new wave for casual gamers

Of course, you read books and watch films or plays and every time you are projecting yourself on one of the heroes. Or even vice versa. Sometimes you are behaving and dressing like the person from the show and the next time you can’t prevent yourself from a shout: “Watch out! The killer is behind you”.

You can dream about a great modernization of your own house and at the same time you can make a model of what you want to see and understand if it is exactly what you need. Then you can book tickets or order food. The only friend that helps you is your home PC. And with every new day people want more and more features to be available per click. Recently a new entertainment has been added. Let’s see what it is. Of course, you read books and watch films or plays and every time you are projecting yourself on one of the heroes. Or even vice versa. Sometimes you are behaving and dressing like the person from the show and the next time you can’t prevent yourself from a shout: “Watch out! The killer is behind you”.

Today you’ll gonna put a brand new role on. What would you say about being a detective? A CSI detective in New York. This game is a great fun for all the fans of the CSI series. And no matter what city you choose – you will be always involved into detective cases from your toes up to head.

If you are a fan of this show, just stop reading and download the new game where you can see all the heroes that you like. Or may be you are a game fan who likes solving such cases? Then you got one!  If you are still deciding if this game is worth downloading, just follow me.

When you start the game you will see the intro from the original show. The persons, the city and the music as if you were watching it on TV.  Then you will see the crime scene and here is where the story begins. This game is a mix of hidden object scenes where you have to search for the hidden objects that are case evidences and sometimes appeared to be ridiculous. For example, in the first case you can find a rubber duck in the list of evidences. And there will be many of such objects.

You will investigate the case like as if you were in a real life. You need to check for  people who may know something, and the way you will ask the questions will influence the whole process of investigation. So you need to choose what questions to ask first and what objects to show. Otherwise your conversation may turn into a never-ending speech. The progress bar at the bottom of the right shows how good you are. And, of course, such games have no time limits, so you can choose the questions as long as you want.

After you have collected all the things and already know all the answers you will have to solve mini puzzles. They are very interesting and involve all your logic, that is why you need sometime to understand what you have to do. For example, you need to make a path from one part of the picture to the other without touching any other objects. Or investigate what kind of knife was used in the murder case. And even make a photo-robot to make a facial recognition. You can always use Hint option to understand the way of acting.

The first mini-game was too difficult for me and I skipped it. For casual game player it is quite difficult to understand why it is not possible to pass mini-game from the 5th attempts. Unfortunately, you can use skip option only twice per case. You will understand it when you visit morgue and need to find the differences between the two X-rayed parts of the victim’s body. The only thing to manage this task  is to click. And it’s great that there are no penalties for the wrong or multiple clicking. But, unfortunately, this influences the strategy and the whole process will become monotonous after the second case.

So, in general, you will play a classic quest game and if you are a fan of this detective genre and like such kind of games, you will enjoy it a lot. And many gamers that played computer games in the latest 90-ies will feel the atmosphere of the past and some kind of nostalgia for the good old games.

Chances of getting into Temple U, Howard U, and Hofstra, and SUNY Stony Brook?

Let me start if by sayin im extremely lazy..i attend one of new york citys 9 specialized HS like Stuyvesant which require a prestigious test for admission, and their are even books made by princeton review, etc for the test. I am a junior and I am currently taking AP Chem and since im in a specialized HS, all my classes are honors but none of them are curved(meaning they are multiplied by 1.1 to get my average). My average is a 81.85 or 2.7 GPA. I am not involved in any sports teams because my school only has a swimming and tennis team. But I have worked as clerical aid for the new york city police department part time, and I also take boxing. I havent taking the SAT yet buyt im planning on gettin a 1800 at least and also im most likely going to raise my average to a 2.9 or 3.0 before the end of this year. What are my chances of getting into the schools I listed. I also think its bs that kids who go to normal public schools n take honors get it curved so a 80 average becomes a 88.

You do have a better chance of getting in Temple or Stony Brook than the other two schools granted if you get your GPA to above 3.0. Howard and Hofstra tend to be more selective.

I know for a fact that Stony Brook doesn’t let you in with a GPA below 3.0 unless your a EOP/SEEK student. They will take into account, that you took higher level classes in your school, and your extracurriculars, which will work to your benefit. If you do well on your SAT’s you’ll have a good chance of getting in Temple or SBU.
