Does anyone remember the title of the children’s book about the magic tree?

It was an older book about a magic tree, and wishes. If I remember correctly, one person wished to find water to dig a well, and one character becomes part of the tree, thats all I remember. I know I read it like twice, but can’t remember the title. Anyone know it?
