Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Reviews and Spoilers — How Did They Do it so Fast???
How is it possible that some reviewers can read and fully digest a 784 page book, and post a thoughtful, well-considered 1,100-word review in a single day?
It’s really not as hard as you might think.
First, you start with speed reading. Speed reading is quite common, and with practice it’s possible to reach speeds of up to a page every 15 or 20 seconds, which means you could read the seventh book in the Harry Potter series, “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows” in about 5 hours or so.
And true speed readers are not just skimming and skipping. They’re actually absorbing and understanding all the content with full retention.
Then comes the tricky part.
To write the review, it’s entirely possible to blast through a 1,100 word review in a matter of hours. When you use something like the FAST System (as explained in“Writing Fast: How to Write Anything with Lightning Speed”), you quickly understand that all you need is a systematic approach to the writing process — and with less practice than you might think, belting out a 1,100-word review in an hour or two becomes a piece of cake.
I think you’d need some practice to get up to reviewing and writing the article in a single day, but, really it’s just a matter of practice. And the fact is, the more you write FAST, the faster you’ll write.
Put in about a half hour of practice each day, and you’ll be speed reading and speed writing at this time next year.

An A+ for ‘Harry and the Hallows’
July 24, 2007
The Yak asked a huge Harry Potter fan and reader, Alex Susalla, 12, of Shelby Township, to review the book. He finished it Saturday. Here’s what he had to say (without spoiling the story for you!).
What or where are the hallows? And why are they so deadly? These were the first two questions that came to mind when I saw J.K. Rowling’s title, “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.” These and many more questions will be answered in the 759-page installment of Book 7.
In “Deathly Hallows,” the action starts sooner than any other book of Harry Potter. Two main characters are killed in the first five chapters, though not all are human. Harry Potter, Ron Weasley, and Hermione Granger embark on a hunt for the horcruxes with the Death Eaters not far behind. The ministry has formed vial and treacherous organizations; no one can be trusted. Previous characters make a re-appearance, but not as many, due to the war. Hogwarts is in peril. A new headmaster has taken reign. Death is in the air like smog over a large city. Even muggles are noticing the effects of the war against Voldemort.
Harry, Ron, and Hermione are now on a quest to stop Voldemort and the Death Eaters. They have received items from the late Albus Percival Wulfric Brian Dumbledore that will help and guide them. Dumbledore has left many secrets behind, and seeking Bathilda Bagshot may hold answers.
Heavy lockets, gold tiaras and magical cups share the spotlight in this heart-pounding and fast-paced novel. There is an ever-rising death toll. Subtle plot elements from previous books are closely intertwined. The seven-part saga goes out with a bang; a loud one at that. In my opinion, this book is the best Harry Potter book ever. Pick up a copy and you won’t be disappointed. The action and mystery more than make up for the loss of some beloved characters. Overall, it’s an A+.
WARNING: More details on Book 7.
Here is a bit more detail from Alex, if you want to know! Don’t read if you don’t want these details, although they are not major spoilers:
Because of his temper, Ron leaves the search to stop Voldemort. Dumbledore has left many secrets behind, and seeking Bathilda Bagshot may hold answers.
Ron is reunited with Harry and Hermione. Together they seek out Xenophilius Lovegood, father to Luna Lovegood. They learn the secret to the Deathly Hallows, what or where they might be, and how they could come into play against Voldemort.
Dobby also returns to get Harry, Ron , and Hermoine out of a rather tough spot with the Death Eaters.
