Cornelia Caroline Funke (born December 10, 1958, in Dorsten, Northrhine-Westphalia) is a multiple award-winning German author of children’s fiction. She is best known for her Inkworld trilogy, with the third, Inkdeath, to be released in spring of 2008. The Inkworld books have gained a variety of attention, and are even compared to the Harry Potter and His Dark Materials books. Her books are very popular in her native country of Germany, and many are now translated into English. Her books fit mainly into the fantasy and adventure genres. She currently resides in Los Angeles, California.
