Slices Previous: Parts I, II and III, the stage is set for the examinations of real estate products, including here, and comments to follow.
If you one or more missed the first three installments, you can easily catch up by visiting: www.satellitetvseeker.info page archived articles.

In Part IV of the series, we will evaluate (3) solutions in an increasing variety of products for PCTV fully in the global market.
Here, within a few weeks we will see a software solution to Part IV-1, a hardware solution to Part IV-2, and a Nowar (n n software and hardware) solutions, the IV-3.

Preparation

Firstly, I will introduce some terms used to describe and classify software solution PCTV: Thanks partly in the free dictionary and Wikipedia. Visit: www.thefreedictionary.com and
www.wikipedia.com

Origin and Delivery
C. Live TV Programming Record: Live TV is live (or almost) are time event actually happens. emissions in pre-recorded content, usually for the new transmission and / or visualization.
For example, live sports programs to reach viewers as they near produce, unlike preparations video clips and instant replays, which are classified as pre-recorded programs.
Streaming (Media), streaming video and / or audio stream. According to my Wikipedia, Streaming Media is a media that is consumed (read hearing, vision), while delivered. Streaming is more a feature of the delivery system of its own media.
The distinction is usually applied to media which are distributed over computer networks, systems of most others are inherently streaming (radio, television) or inherently Non-streaming (E-books, video cassettes and audio CDs).
Buffer: (Streaming Media) Download the first block of data. Streaming Media, stored buffer refers to the introduction of an additional amount of data (filling the buffer) before playing the audio or video.
Having more audio or video Mark (PC) memory of those who actually need every moment compensates for delays in transmission instantaneous source.
When a network is fast enough to keep reading, buffering is not necessary, however, this is not the case through the Internet, where packets can 20-routers from source to destination, and delays may occur for a period buffer occurs when the transmission is interrupted and the data should be supplemented or replaced.

Synchronization: (Audio / Video match) media combined sound and image so that the perception of audio / video (A / V) events, although separate channeled, is imperceptible.

For example, watching television, if you look closely, you'll be able to detect a slight period of time, from the moment where you see the words, when in fact listening to the sounds of the voice actors.

Bandwidth: The amount of data that can be transmitted over a communication channel in a given period of time.

Image Quality

Definition: A term used to denote the degree of detail in a graphic image, illustration, or any other object.
Most of all currents and the satellite TV Cable is in what is classified as standard definition (SD). High definition (HD) provides images that are on (4) (5) times sharper development sustainable.

Delete: no interference.

Granular: visible spots, pustules, and ran lines and old movies in celluloid.

Focus: Sharp blurred.

Sharp, who works well defined.

Fuzzy: bad definition.

Saturation Regarding color. Vivid color, degree of difference from a gray of the same lightness or brightness. Saturation is also called intensity.

Margins: The color of an object disperse to another.

Brightness: The effect or sensation by which an observer is able to distinguish differences in luminance. The color measurement representing its similarity to a series of achromatic colors ranging from very dark (black) to very clear (bright).

Luminance: The intensity of light per unit area of its source.

Flicker: unstable images that bounce and that otherwise appear smooth.

Pixel: The basic unit of composition of an image on a television screen, computer screen or similar display. Ideally, in terms of production quality and implementation of programs, these pixels are not perceived by the viewer. Pixels, it has noted, also known as "artifacts".

Pixelization: blocks of square or the color of tiles, or black and white pieces, which are obvious for the viewer.

Pictures: A variety of things on the screen, which includes graphics and still images and other objects, apparently in the foreground on a background.

Graphics: Logos and alphanumeric messages superimposed on a screen. Sharp focus.

Stills: images without image apparent motion. Sharp focus. Also known ups "freeze" when they appear in the media streaming.

Re: visual discontinuity.

Proposal: Sharp blurred images.

Proposal ghosts channels to a second residual image to another, Focus Imaging.

Audio Quality

Bass: A bass sound or tone. The lowest tones in the register of an instrument.

Treble: The highest part, the voice, instrument, or a fork.

Fidelity: The degree to which an electronic system accurately reproduces the sound or image of your input signal.

Re: audio discontinuity.

Distortion: An undesired change in the waveform of a signal. One consequence such a change, particularly the lack of fidelity in reception or reproduction.

For example, given an audio clip of voice human fed through any sound system at full volume, is considered a distortion.

The test software solutions

Objectives: For an assessment solution fair, consistent and comprehensive through the implementation and after a good "scientific."

Methodology: The application of a battery observable and reproducible features audio and visual capabilities of the solution.

Tested: Satellite TV for PC 2006 Elite Edition: $ 49.95 USD.

Test Variable Factors: The following factors have influenced the results and conclusions (below) to a greater or lesser degree.

The test material factor

The capabilities of the personal computer (PC) must be used my HP Pavilion ze2000 2006 with screen 15 "Diagonal (9" x 12 vertically "in the horizontal direction).

The built-in Altec Lansing system I use Microsoft Windows XP and Windows (free) Media Player 11 to perform all tests with this software. Otherwise, Real Player can be used, even if may be forced to buy a download basis, as the free version can fail to install.

Apart from volume / performance hardware acceleration "(created in full)" and what is called "The quality of samples conversion rate (especially better) "my PC sound system does standard EQ settings: the balance and volume.
In addition, there is no real purpose in the definition audio characteristics of PCTV. There is nothing more important to measure.

In preparation for the test, I downloaded the software and everything prepared in advance HP's recommendations for software manufacturer.
These adjustments include changing PC settings screen and adjust PCTV vision: 800 × 600 pixels, 96 dpi, with the screen otherwise in default, in Microsoft XP Control Panel.

For comparison, I used a factory half-Burn DVD Standard Definition (SD) quality. The sound in general quality [8 Very good] resonant base and treble. The video quality is also [8] Very well.

Note: Some evaluation factors Digital "[]"

As the test DVD I made before the test program works so well, did not meet any of the options colors available in my screen.

The factor of the Internet

The Internet must be considered that, by itself, offers a variable product. All things being equal, in general, slow service is available for testing, most users online at any given time, and the most intense demand, the slowdown in the Internet delivery will be.
Ultimately, for tested software solutions, which means that buffering can be reduced to a stop, which also assumes that this vision can be disrupted by two, or Re-stamp sometimes necessary to continue running.

In these cases, still images are streaming in full screen to be restored.

access Internet Delivery Factor

• Remote Access Services (not rated) software solution may not work satisfactorily in terms of Internet dial, because of the enormous amount of information that must pass through your Internet connection simultaneously.
Dial Up set speed to 56 Kbps * or less, are generally so slow that the software can not load the program. However, as there are few designated routes for dialing into the software I tried, apparently, some have considered to host the dial users.

• Cable Internet Services (untested): If the connection speed and cable are important for the successful operation, this software solution can work well for you who are lucky have Internet access by cable!
Feature high-speed broadband via cable, around 4 Mbps, you can also deliver consistently good, very good audio and video software testing, with ups and drop-freeze less.

• Digital Subscriber Line (DSL) Services (untested): This type of broadband service may work well for you using a software solution.
Due to the nature of the service: bandwidth relatively wide, 1.5 Mbps, Wired and delivery; DSL can provide a very rewarding experience PCTV.

• Satellite Internet Services (test): * By measuring bandwidth of around 400kbps, and wireless delivery, you may experience the same kind of thing (UPS freezing, abandonment, Re-buffering, etc.) I recorded here.
As discussed below, for consideration of Ministry of Interior to conduct all tests required for connect my PC to your router with an Ethernet cable.

• Wireless Broadband Services (Test): A measure of bandwidth and especially 1.5Kbps * and wireless delivery, you may experience the same kind of thing (UPS freezing, neglect, Re-stamp, etc.) I recorded here.

* Comparison Data courtesy www.internetfrog.com

Factor Testing Service

The following tests were performed in two different locations in the following conditions:
Test 1. Ministry of Interior of the event: high-speed Internet service DIRECWAY satellite modem evaluated 700kbps down/128Kpbs 6000 and Linksys router: wired connection. (Wireless Test almost always failed.)
Test 2. Starbucks Testing: Red T-Mobile WiFi (wireless). speed T1 announced. (In 1500kbps or 1.5Mbps, T1 is really more than twice the speed provided by my satellite system.)

The human factor

My own weaknesses, prejudices, hopes, and yes, Great Expectations, must be taken into account.
What I want is the experience PCTV Software television as I know and love, as I lived at home side tube.
Only now, I want my TV Satellite PC to be completely portable and, ideally, no monthly subscription fees.

Quality factor

DVD / CD-ROM / OTA Quality: Used here as criteria to compare and contrast the quality of the evidence of experience PCTV.

Classification system Here are the rankings (best to worst) that I use to describe PCTV audio and video.
Note: Despite the high definition (HD) offers by far the best High-quality TV signal available at this time, 09/01/06, HD games are so few in use, H is not a useful measure for comparison.

Therefore: The following classification system be applied here:

HD DVD: High Definition (HD) MPEG-4 better (Burn Plant) played on a PC Lap Top. (This notation is provided solely for purposes of comparison.)

Excellent: Standard Definition (SD), MPEG-2 DVD Quality average (Factory / Record Home) played on a PC.

Very well: the quality of CD-ROM as a player, a PC tower top.

Good: Off-The-Air (OTA) quality, high frequency radio signals, broadcast on a TV or PC Lap Top with a hardware PCTV.
(More on this subject in Part IV-2.)

Fair: Off-The-Air (OTA) quality, high frequency radio signals, as played on a TV Lap Top or PC with a hardware solution PCTV.
(More on this subject in Part IV-2.)

Poor: Off-The-Air (OTA) quality, high frequency radio signals, as played on a TV or PC Lap Top with a hardware solution PCTV.
(More on this issue in the (SD) DVD factory burned houses, which equates to the same quality TV SD MPEG-2, and comparing them is equal to the experience PCTV software. Notices show "[]"

Video (image quality) [10] (Perfect) – [5] appropriate – [1] (Terrible)
Audio (Sound Quality) [10] (Perfect) – [5] appropriate – [1] (Terrible)
Sync (Audio / Video pairing): [10] (Perfect) – [5] appropriate – [1] (Terrible)

Based on the above criteria, thus our bank, Marcos DVD Media, standard definition (SD) quality rate:

Video (image quality):
Small screen option:
Color: [9] Excellent. Full red / green / blue (RGB) Palette.
Graphics: [9] Excellent. Clear.
Resolution: [8] Very good: Sharp. Clear Stills, graphics and fluid motion without blur aliasing view or excessive.

Video (image quality):
Full:
Color: [8] Very well. Full red / green / blue (RGB) Palette.
Graphics: [8] Very well. Quite clear. Some ghosts Motion.
Resolution: [8] Very good: Sharp. Stills Clair, graphics and smooth motion, without jaggies or excessive blur display.

Audio (Sound Quality): [9] Excellent: Very clearly, legless apparent deformation. Sound quality uniform [8] Very good bass and treble.

Sync (Audio / Video pairing): [9] Excellent. No lapse apparent between the reception of audio and video.

Definition (Standard): Unless otherwise stated. [8] Very well.

Resolution: [8] Very well.

Audio Factors

Because satellite TV for PC interface test has a single audio control, volume, no sense in analyzing the sound quality, but states the obvious: The volume controls and audio output drop.

Note: If the streaming media can be heard at a reasonable distance from the vision of 2 'to 3' away from the computer screen, the sound is a problem.

Satellite TV for PC 2006 Elite Edition Volume Control Interface: My experience ranged from satisfactory to unsatisfactory.

Note: Having to adjust the volume of PCs in the XP Control Panel, in addition to maxing the software interface, has been a nuisance. Reference in the audio stream too frequent.

Factors Video

characteristics of image quality of much merit attention: the color, graphics and resolution are all important measures of quality of experience PCTV.
Therefore, most attention is concentrated here.

Installation Factors

Download the software from the website: Degree of difficulty: Easy

Interface 1: "Satellite TV on PC. "Configured for download.

Interface 2: "TVAnts. Two additional servers must be configured manually after exit: Easy.

Pop-Ups and Downs Blizzard-factors

On the negative side of this place easily and establish events otherwise uneventful, was the absolute blizzard of POPs in all areas of China containing advertising: observed both during unloading, and if I remember correctly during the installation!
If you buy this software, please note! STOPzilla (Noise Suppressor) perhaps to conclude a contract before download!

Factor Control Interface

Satellite TV for PC 2006 Elite Edition interface controls:
Interface 1. and 2 interface.
Released: fast and safe.
Menu Bar: Easy to use with sub-menus.
Controls: Play and Stop: Easy to handle, and obedient.
Full screen two components: Easy to use, and obedient.

Hi, Craig Guest here. The Satellite TV Business has been my occu-passion for the last six years. Looking back, it’s been an extraordinary journey. My favorite quote: “It is good to have an end to journey toward, but it is the journey that matters in the end.” – Ursula K. LeGuin

Craig started as a Satellite TV installer and serviceman, and soon got involved in selling for both DISH Network and DirecTV. When Satellite Internet arrived on the scene in 2001, Craig took the plunge and got certified for StarBand, Pegasus Express and DirecWay as an installer and serviceman. High Speed Satellite Internet sales soon followed, and today his watchwords are: Anything Satellite.
