Help, I can’t burn any audio cds on my computer?

I bought a new Samsung NC10 a few months back and recently tried to burn an audio cd using various software XP Burner Pro, Windows Media Player, Acoustica CD Burner but in all of them the disc fails to burn. I have tried Philips and Imation brand of cds. I want to know if this there is a problem with my computer or the external cd drive I am using. I have already wasted 5 blank cds trying to do this. Any help would be great.
